Photoshoot 2007

Mon 16th April 2007

After the great pictures that I did with Nas and Clarke last year, I decided to do this years shoot with Clarke again. It was a lot later in the year this year that I did the shoot which meant we were able to do pictures outside in the sunshine which was great.

It was very difficult for us to arrange a date where all three of us could be off together, but eventually our diaries managed to coincide and the next thing we had to arrange was a venue. Nas has a friend who has her own vintage clothes shop and at one point we were going to do the shoot there, but a couple of days before hand something came up and we had to then find another venue. Clarke came up with the idea of using his house and his garden which sounded great, his house backs on to a forest and Nas suggested going into the forest to take pictures, I cant say I was over keen on this idea so we stuck with the garden.

I also needed to try and arrange an appointment with my hairdresser, which was going to be difficult as only two of the staff work on Mondays luckily I was able to secure an appointment for 11am on the Monday. On the day of the shoot I had to get up fairly early to have a shave and to ensure that all my clothes were packed. Meredith was coming to watch the photo shoot and together we drove over to Nas’s houses where I was having a waxing prior to going off to the hairdressers. My usual hairdresser does not work on Monday’s so I had an appointment with one of the other girls, as the shop only has two stylists who work on Monday’s it was really quiet inside. I was unsure as to how to have my hair styled , but when the Anna suggested making it curly I agreed. My hair was just then dried and she used the hair straightners on it to create some great curls, I was really impressed by it.

Once the hair was done it was time to drive back to Nas’s grab a quick sandwich and then drive over to Clarke’s house, I think Clarkes wife thought I was moving in when I arrived with my case full of clothes. After getting all of the clothes out of the case and discussing outfits with Meredith and Nas, it was then time for Nas to start on my make up. As we were doing the pictures outside we decided to go with lighter colours, so I sat back and let Nas do my face, whilst Meredith and Clarke sat outside in the sun putting the world to rights. After about 45 minutes the make up was done and it was then time to get dressed.

Outfit 1

The first outfit was an Aubergine off the shoulder top, this was teamed up with white ¾ length trousers and black strappy sandals. We started off doing pictures inside up against a white wall and then framed against the window leading to the garden. After this we decided to move out into the garden taking some pictures on the decking on the garden furniture and standing near plants, none of which I knew the names of. I just stood there most of the time trying to look pretty whilst Clarke snapped away.

Outfit 2

This was a new dress which I recently purchased at Gemma’s shop, together with the matching jewellery, we teamed up the dress with gold sandals and flesh coloured stockings. As with a lot of Gemma’s clothes the dress is quite a complicated thing to get on, but once I managed this we went through the same routine, firstly inside, then outside in the garden. Whilst standing on the grass outside I came to realise why its best not to wear high heels on grass, as the pictures were being taken I was sinking slowly.

Outfit 3

This was a white trouser suit from Next, which I had used in a previous shoot, I teamed it up with pink shoes, fuschia bra and pink jewellery. We tried to do a few pictures with the jacket open displaying the bra, but I’m very conscious of my stomach so was not over keen on these pictures. Again we did pictures inside then outside before going back inside. Whilst doing these pictures Clarke’s children came home, not sure what they made of it, I heard his daughter say, that I had nice hair and nails, but then she said “ well aint he supposed to smile in these pictures”, but her best comment was “ what exactly is the point of all this “ which I thought was great.

Outfit 4

The last outfit was my usual end of shoot underwear shots, this years set was an ivory set from Aubade(my favourite brand) it was the set my friends got me as my 40th birthday present. All of the pictures with the underwear were done inside, we did not want to scare the neighbours, but there were quite a variety including sitting, lying on a sofa, on the floor and standing up.

After the last of the pictures were taken, I took a few minutes to sit down and stop smiling, before regrettably it was time to get my make up off and try to get some of the curls out of my hair. I managed the make up ok, but the hair was still curly, it was then time for Meredith and I to drive home and wait for a week to see the results of the shoot.

Clarke dropped a disc of the pictures at my house a week later and I was really impressed with the results.

So thanks to Meredith, Anna, Nas and Clarke for making it a great day. If you want to contact Nas her email is Nastoptotoe@hotmail.com  and Clarke is roland.clarke11@btinternet.com
